Simple Woman's Daybook - 20110725

 

FOR TODAY - July 25, 2011 

Outside My Window... it is a lovely day already!  It is still hot (81 already), but it's not supposed to get as hot as it has been.  And, I am VERY grateful for this.

I am thinking... of the character training that I must be diligent in.  It is evident that this is an area we will be working hard on this week, as we've already had sour attitudes and unloving behavior this morning.  Praise the Lord for the opportunity to work out these issues while they are still young and moldable.

In the learning room... We need to work on our religious exemption for home schooling in Virginia.  Eliana is still working on her summer math and english assignments.  Noah is finishing up his projects and writing reports.  Our next school year officially starts in two weeks.

I am thankful for... my amazing husband who loves me and cherishes me even when I am unlovable.  He reminds me daily of how much Christ loves me.

From the kitchen... thoughts of a menu plan for this week are still mulling around in my mind.  I really NEED to get the whole "pantry" thing figured out so that I can get the pantry boxes out of the kitchen floor.

I am wearing... my favorite comfy pants from Linnea Boutique... YES, again!  They are super comfy and my other pair is in the laundry.  I need more of them. <3

I am creating... the shawl is still on the needles being knit up.  I am finishing up the edging this week and it looks lovely!  I will be working on several diapers to stock the shop with on Friday in honor of Tabitha's 5th birthday.

I am going... to pick up the replacement baby chicks in the next couple of days.  And, my husband will be taking me out on Friday on a date.  We are going to send some cupcakes or cake to the PNO (parents night out) at the church for Tabi to share with her friends.

I am reading... my bible, some knitting patterns, "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens", and "Storey's Basic Country Skills"... YES, still!

I am hoping... to work efficiently and be productive this week.  I'd like to have a good many diapers to stock in the shop this Friday.

I am hearing... The sound of peace and quiet.  The children finished the breakfast and graciously went to do their chores while I finish this.

Around the house... there are still many projects to be done.  But, it is definitely beginning to look like a home and not just a storage unit.

One of my favorite things... looking out my sunroom windows in the morning and enjoying my cup of coffee while watching the neighbors horses in their pasture.  They really are quite beautiful.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:  Still spending time nurturing and training my young children while tending to the needs of the farm.  We'll pick up the baby chicks and get them settled and do more work in the fields.  Mostly going to be doing sewing during the afternoons.

A picture of my beautiful *almost* 5 year old.  She was "nursing" her baby and being a wonderful little mommy.  It is amazing to see how far the Lord has brought my little lady who didn't speak until 2 years ago and still struggles with Childhood Apraxia of Speech.  We are truly blessed beyond measure!

FOR TODAY - July 18, 2011 

Outside My Window... the loud chirping of cicadas can be heard as we work in the sunroom.  And, we've got a beautiful view of the cleared pasture field out back and the barn.  It was amazing to work with my husband and children this weekend to get them cleared for the chickens.

I am thinking... about how gracious the Lord is and how amazing it was to sing with the worship team once again yesterday.  I have missed it!

In the learning room... We are still working on summer school.  It's time to start planning out the actually curriculum and daily instructions for the coming year.  We also need to work on our religious exemption for home schooling in Virginia.

I am thankful for... my amazing parents!  Mom and Daddy came out yesterday to help us move the gazebo around towards the front of the house (it requires four people to move it) and then set up my waterbed.  It was absolutely heavenly to sleep in my bed again last night for the first time in at least six months.  And, I miss my mom.  I can't wait to have her come back down again after her trip and just sit and knit with me for an afternoon.

From the kitchen... the thoughts about meal plans for this week are still running through my head.  The breakfast dishes are waiting for me in the sink.  I really need to get my kitchen in further order and bring my bread machine out of the garage and start putting it to use.

I am wearing... my favorite comfy pants from Linnea Boutique... YES, again!  They are super comfy and my other pair is in the laundry.  I need more of them. <3

I am creating... the shawl is still on the needles being knit up.  Three diapers are sitting on the cutting table just waiting for front snaps.  Then, I've got plans for more sewing this week.

I am going... to spend my time mostly at home again this week.  Noah has an orthoped appt Tuesday afternoon for his arm.  And we'll have grocery shopping this week.  But, it's going to be very hot this week and I've got plenty to do that will keep me home.

I am reading... my bible, some knitting patterns, "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens", and "Storey's Basic Country Skills"... YES, still!

I am hoping... to succeed in making my house more of a home this week.

I am hearing... The cicadas outside and the children working on their schoolwork inside.  Both are glorious sounds.

Around the house... it is time to get the family and living rooms in order.  Also need to work on a better shelving/storage system in the sunroom for all of our homeschool/craft/sewing things.

One of my favorite things... is being able to enjoy a fresh hot cup of coffee with the fruit and cheese that my wonderful husband prepared and left for my breakfast today.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:  Still spending time nurturing and training my young children while tending to the needs of the farm.  Restoring the order and peace that we've been missing because of being too terribly busy.  I am also working on a study on "clutter".  Since I'm struggling with this issue so much right now... I figure perhaps I should share what the Bible says about such things.  ;-)

Sorry, no picture to be shared this week.  We're really trying to limit our internet usage so that we do not risk going over our limits again.  Last time was (and still is) horribly painful.

FOR TODAY - July 11, 2011 

Outside My Window... lovely rays of sunshine filter through the trees and dance among the foliage in the back yard outside the stable.  It's going to be a HOT day, but it's beautiful from inside this air conditioning.

I am thinking... of some lovely embroideries that I want to do and put in the shop.  I've also got a very beautiful start to a shawl for a friend.  I am torn between which things I want to do first.

In the learning room... Things are in summer mode.  Poor Tabitha is distraught over not being able to do MORE of her pre-school workbook.  I pray that she holds onto that desire to do more and learn more and study further as we progress.

I am thankful for... All the ladies in our church.  We had a wonderful secret sister revealing last night and I was very blessed.  It is an honor and privilege to be able to lift one another up in prayer regularly.

From the kitchen... there will be a lot of activity in there later today, as we are having Pastor Spear and his family out for dinner tonight.  We are looking forward to cooking out on the grill.

I am wearing... my favorite comfy pants from Linnea Boutique.  They are pink yoga-style pants with a lovely butterfly embroidered on the right hip.  Too bad they are going to be too big soon.  I wonder if she can alter them for me.

I am creating... another shawl is on the needles being knit up.  There are also several diapers ready to be sewed on the cutting table.

I am going... nowhere in particular this week.  We've been way too busy and I plan to enjoy the quiet and simplicity of staying home most of the week.  The one exception will be our trip to Martinsburg on Thursday to pick up a trailer-load of stuff with Memaw and Pappy.  Praying for no rain!

I am reading... my bible, some knitting patterns, "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens", and "Storey's Basic Country Skills"... YES, still!

I am hoping... that my efforts at productivity will not be in vain and that I will keep my heart focused on the most important task of training and nurturing my children while keeping my home.

I am hearing... Eliana work through her math problems and Josiah doing his best to distract her.

Around the house... is still too much clutter. But, it IS getting better.

One of my favorite things... is listening to worship music and podcasts while sewing or knitting.

My firstborn son with my first living grandchild.  We welcomed Skye Renee on June 28th at 7:40am through an amazing home birth.  She weighed 6lbs, 15 oz and was 18 3/4 inches long.  Tim and Randi are adjusting well to being new parents and are completely smitten with this little pixie.
