We closed on the purchase of the farmhouse in Catlett two and a half weeks ago. The children and I have been "camping out" here for almost two weeks. Jason spent a week of that time away at a Pastor's conference and then helping his dad in Florida. We are very happy to be all under the same roof again now. We are very excited (and overwhelmed) that our stuff will be moved down here in two days.
Jason has taught me how to run the craftsman yard tractor. I've mowed the front and side "yard" already. Next up is mowing the pasture/field areas. I've rewired our dryer plug, replaced a fan light unit, and painted most of two rooms. We've got wood lined up out back for the wood stove (not that we'll need it anytime soon). Things are beginning to come together.
The stables are in desperate need of a LOT of tlc. However, I've got to get the foliage around the house cleared and dealt with first.
And... the BUGS! Seriously... I know we're in the country, but the bugs are awful. I need to look into regular pest treatment. I've got some spray to use in the meantime, but I fear I'm fighting a losing battle. (And, I *just* remembered what I called my mom about last night and forgot).
We've got to get the siding and deck pressure washed. And we have to get the weed eater restrung so that we can get the ditches trimmed out. One would NOT want to nonchalantly step into the ditch to get the mail and find a snake as a neighbor. But, that is VERY likely right now.
And, once our belongings are delivered, I need to get my sewing stuff set up promptly and get sewing again. Of course, there's the proper business license and new auto registration and drivers licenses that need to be dealt with.
And, lastly... but certainly not least... we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first grandchild. Randi and Timothy are living with us for a while and she is due any day now with a little girl. We're getting everything ready (in the midst of all this chaos) for her homebirth.
One can certainly say that there is NEVER a dull moment around the Graves Household. But, I couldn't imagine it any other way. We are praising God for the amazing blessings and awesome ways that He has provided for us.
I can't wait to update with pictures, but that won't be for another two weeks. I need to get the house set up and find a day that I can take my laptop and camera card to a high speed internet spot. The internet here would never handle that. Oh, the joys of country living! Praise God for less distractions and a slower speed to most of life.
Watch for the next update in about two weeks. Godspeed!
