I missed yesterday's Simple Woman post... just too much going on this week. I'll manage to pick up again next Monday.
Today, we prepare for Tim's surgery. He is having the external fixator removed and a surgeon will reconstruct his ankle and put pins and plates in his leg bones. He will be kept overnight and his surgery is late this afternoon. His wife, Randi, and I are taking him out there and staying until he is comfortably in his room for the night. Then, Jason will pick him up and bring him home after work tomorrow. We are praying for the Lord to divinely guide the surgeon and team as they provide the best care and path for healing. We are also praying for their financial provision and for the Lord to direct Tim's path for the future.
Randi is still very pregnant... and is proclaiming that she will be crossing her legs until Thursday. Poor thing is very done now and really cannot wait to hold her baby girl. Any.day.now...
Noah's arm was casted a week ago. I almost had heart failure when the doctor took him back three seperate times for more xrays and said they were trying to determine if they needed to pin his broken elbow! They finally determined that the small amount of seperation is fully expected to grow back together while he is casted... because he is so young. So, we are praying for his continued healing and that his pain will continue to decrease.
The chicks (baby chickens) are doing GREAT! We lost three of the 28 we started with. They will be replaced the end of next month. I've got my plans for the coop in the stable stall, just need to put them into place and get the field outside of it cleared so they can free-range as soon as they are big enough. I need them out of the brooder in my sunroom so that I can finish setting up my sewing room.
The boys' room is painted and just needs the dresser(s) from memaw and pappy's to be completely setup. Right now, their clothes are just folded (mostly) and stacked or scattered across the floor.
The girls' room is painted, but still needs the trim done. And, we need to see about some bunkbeds for them. They love it!
We started painting the master bedroom last weekend and it's looking awesome! Jason needs to finish the trim and two areas that we left unpainted so that other paint could dry first - next to the accent wall. I cannot wait to be able to get our bed and other belongings set up in there finally.
The kitchen is as unpacked as it's gonna get. I've still got my pantry in boxes... but that's because I don't HAVE a pantry. I need to plan something in the garage, but we have to clear out enough of the garage in order to do that.
The living room has Tim in it. We are praying that he'll be able to manage going back to his room after he comes home from surgery (or shortly thereafter). Ultimately, the living room will be set up with some seating arrangements and perhaps some bookshelves. We're keeping it simple beyond that, so that we can best utilize it for ministry meetings and more formal settings.
The family room is currenly a mess and needs to be dealt with. We're trying to keep it fairly empty so that we can use it when Randi is in labor and ready to deliver Skye. I need to get my piano (keyboard) moved to the living room this week and the boxes stored in the garage or taken to the dump. We have a beautiful gazebo right outside the french doors with a pool for Randi in it right now... just waiting. She says it's taunting her... looking lonely. ;-)
Sewing! I've got to find the boxes of sewing supplies that were once in my sewing tables... and all of my PUL. They are in the midst of the many boxes stacked in the garage. That will be the task for this coming weekend and following week. I cannot wait to be able to sew again.
Homeschool... is on hold for the next two weeks still. We officially finished out our school year over a month ago, but are planning to continue year round schooling. I still need to send out their assessment results to the WV school board by the end of the month. I need some time to get everything organized so that we can continue. And, I need to take the homeschool laptop to somewhere with real high-speed internet to install the software and download all updates.
God is blessing us richly every day. We have amazing views and enough room for what we need. The children are learning about life and death and how a farm works. The dog is adjusting as well as expected... he would like to eat the baby chicks, barks at the neighbor's horses, and is tired of being cooped up in his kennel. He's also not going to like getting a bath this morning... but he stinks!
And, on that note... it's time to get things done. I'll update again once I'm able. But, it won't likely be until Thursday or later. Have an amazing God-filled week!
