Simple Woman's Daybook - 27

FOR TODAY - November 23, 2009

Outside My Window... a light drizzle has left the ground slightly damp and the air a little moist.  The gray outside sort of matches my moods recently. I'm working on that.

I am thinking... of how I can juggle my time to spend enough with Josiah and working with Ace, while still getting plenty of knitting done.

In the learning room... Things are going REALLY well with Noah. We had a minor technical problem with his SOS curriculum (science specifically), but a new CD resolved it and we moved forward. We are taking a break this week to enjoy Thanksgiving and take care of some household things.

I am thankful for... Ace and Dash!  I'm still certain that we were entirely crazy for bringing home two pups.  But, they are adorable and will be much better with consistent training over the next six month.

From the kitchen... the dishwasher is running... preparing the clean dishes for the rest of the day. I've yet to decide what to make for dinner, but that will be dealt with shortly. It's also time to start thinking of Thanksgiving preparation. I've got two dishes to take down to the gathering we are sharing with on Thursday at church.

I am wearing... nothing remotely flattering, but definitely comfortable - sweats and a t-shirt

I am creating... a knit hat for my handsome husband... and perhaps one for my oldest son.  I've also got a pair of socks to start later this week and a shawl in progress. Then, on the sewing front... I've got many diapers in various stages of the process to finish. And, I'd really like to make the girls some beautiful nightgowns (old style) for their Christmas gifts.

I am going... to spend more quality time with my two pups over the next two weeks. Ace is home from puppy boot camp and we pick up Dash either tomorrow evening or Wednesday. It's amazing just how much difference good training can make.

I am reading... my bible, some knitting patterns and a ladies study book.

I am hoping... the economy turns around and MudpieBabies sales pick up soon.  It's pretty dead around here. I am enjoying the quiet, but could use the cold hard cash. ;-)

I am hearing... the wonderful sounds of Sleeping Beauty.  I love older Disney movies.

Around the house... are many projects that need attention. But, we are working on puppy training right now.  So, you will likely find a training leash and collar in several places for the next few weeks.

One of my favorite things... is enjoying a hot cup of coffee in the first quiet of the morning before everyone else wakes up... it's such a rare thing around here. I need to make it happen more often.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:  We picked Ace up from training yesterday and will pick Dash up in the next two days.  He needed a little extra time alone with the trainer.  So, I'll be working with the boys on reinforcing their learning. We will spend Thanksgiving at church with a whole crew of friends and family. Then, it's "month-end weekend" for my poor hubby... so it will be busy.

Inspiration

It comes in many forms... and often at the strangest times and in the most unexpected ways.  But, I wouldn't have it any other way.  I grew up very troubled and struggled with myself for many years.  My outlet was creative writing.  I loved writing poetry and song... more songs than anything though.  It's been years since I've given into the desire to write.  But, I think it's time again.  And, I think it's time that I got that piano uncovered and really started playing.

The children are getting older and growing up so quickly.  I have my hands full.  But, I have songs in my heart that I believe the Lord wants me to let out... even if they never become anything more than private worship.  He deserves ALL my praise!

Jason and I had the miraculous pleasure of spending two nights and three days away from the children and regular life this past weekend/week.  We attended the Integrity Deeper Worship seminar in Virginia Beach.  We took a great part of our church worship team down and God really blessed us.  Now, we all return with fresh vision and inspiration.  But, even better than that... we had an amazing time just being alone and in the presence of the Almighty!

Our two pups are at their two week puppy boot camp... and a great young lady from church (God Bless the Dahl family!) came to stay with our four littlest ones.  It gave us the freedom to attend the seminar without distraction or other concerns.  Such a rare and much needed retreat!

Now, it's time to get back to the daily walk and everything that it entails.  I'm sure I'll get back to post a more mundane and regular post sometime later.  But, for now I've got tons to get done around here.  I've got some diapers to get listed in the online store too.  May the God of gace and mercy draw you ever closer to Him... and may you meet Him... at the foot of the cross...
